Marble Polishing in NJ

If you are looking for marble polishing in NJ, Aldayna Stone Care & Maintenance specializes in marble and stone care for homes and offices throughout New Jersey.

The conventional belief about marble is that it is supposed to be either shiny- by default, or
sparkle by simply applying a cleaning solvent.   However, thisis not necessarily the case.  To understand, one must know the type of marble surface, its "finish" and "polishing."

For the most part, "polish", "polished" or "polishing" refers to the type of finish on marble, travertine, limestone, granite or any natural stone.  Natural stone can be finished with a number of different surface types, styles or looks depending on what the individual is looking for.

A polished finish is the shiny, high-gloss type of finish with the deepest color saturation commonly
seen on marble and granite countertops.  Since a polished finish is the most common, most people assume all marble is supposed to give off this look.  But marble, or nearly any stone, can have a number of different finishes.

For example, a honed finish is satin-smooth, but is not reflective or shiny and the colors are more
muted.  It is often referred to as a "matte" finish.

Other surface finishes include: tumbled, flamed, antiqued, brushed, hammered and more.  Each has a different look, however all of them are non-reflective.  Only a polished finish has the look of a
high-gloss, shiny surface.  It is the finish that brings out the marble's inherent shine.

One major drawback to marble is that it is sensitive to various foods and chemicals and therefore
susceptible to staining or etching. Marble etches fairly easily, while it is a bit more resistant to
staining. Spilled orange juice or coffee can destroy the top layer of the marble and take
away its shine, but may also create a spot or ring, as well. Using the wrong cleaning agents - those that are too acidic or too alkaline - can also dull the finish.

While these stains and etchings sound serious, they can be removed and the marble brought back to
its factory finish.  It is important to determine if your marble has a stain or etching because
they are different problems, each requiring a different solution.
